On The Literary Notion "Ziran" In Wei, Jin, Southern And Northern Dynasties

The notion"ziran"with rich meanings is important in Chinese ancient literature. Laozi is the first one who explained concentratedly"ziran"in Chinese ideological history."Ziran"was explained as"naturally"or"as itself". So, it was endowed with the most elementary meaning which later comprehension was based on. Before Wei Dynasty, the literary, historical, philosophical meanings are confused. Literary production was unconventionally active in Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties and literary theory developed unprecedentedly. The notion"ziran"began to pervade into literary field, and took up an independent position as an important notion of Chinese ancient study of art and literature.This dissertation studied"ziran"with the aim of making clear its pervading process from confusion to literary field through a series of organizing. The dissertation made clear the development and evolving track of"ziran", looking forward to post the meaning of"ziran"in Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties. In order to post the meaning in the round, the dissertation traced down the origin of ideological foundation and systematically discussed the configuration and developing trend of"ziran".The dissertation studied the notion in 3 chapters. Chapter One discussed ideological foundation of"ziran"from historical aspect, especially its pervading process from confusion to literary field . Chapter Two organized evolving trace of"ziran"as a literary notion in Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, attempting to make clear its intervention, development and maturation. Chapter Three explored its meaning, basing on the former two chapters. The dissertation thought,"ziran"was affected and confined by earlier and then ideas, social consciousness and the characteristics of literature in Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties. Therefore, its meaning was embodied as a topmost tasting ideal, a topmost estimating standard and an ideal for literary production correspondingly.The meaning of"ziran"as an important notion in literature of Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties is very grand. Its effect on later literature is far-reaching. Even in modern times, the position of"ziran"in literature field is important. So,"ziran"is a durable task of the study of art and literature.
