Chinese business correspondence, refers to the correspondence between the two parties in the process of business trade. With the development of economy, communications between the parties are becoming more and more important. In most cases, business correspondence are the most commonly used means of communication between the parties.In the process of their usage, Chinese business correspondence have formed their own style. At the lexical level, syntactic level and discourse level, they manifest distinctive and unique features, and these features make Chinese business correspondence so special and so businesslike.This thesis focuses on the study of the language style of Chinese business correspondence and their writing. The study has been carried out on the basis of the stylistics. This thesis is made up of five chapters.Chapter one is introduction consisting background, aim and structure of the study.Chapter two is literature review. There are two parts in this chapter. Part one is an introduction to Chinese business correspondence with the purpose of providing some background knowledge since it is logical to get to have some relevant knowledge about Chinese business correspondence first before starting to analyze their stylistic features and their writing. The introduction covers five parts: components, classification, stylistic features, review of former study and review of English business correspondence study. Part two is literature review. Theories of stylistics and study of style are discussed in this part. First, what is"style"? According to this question, different stylists have different views. Second, what is stylistics? Third, achievement of study is made at home. On the basis of this achievement, this thesis will go further to the study of stylistics. Fourth, there are problems in Chinese study of stylistics. Although great achievements have been made in China, there are so many problems in the study of stylistics. Therefore, the study of stylistics of Chinese business correspondence in this thesis is very essential.Chapter three is about the stylistic analysis of Chinese business correspondence. In this chapter, the typical and common stylistic features of Chinese business correspondence are discussed within the framework of the theories of stylistics. The analysis is carried out at lexical level, syntactic level and discourse level.Chapter four is concerned with the composition of Chinese business correspondence, the application of the theories in Chapter two and Chapter three. In this chapter, four writing principles are introduced: conciseness, clarity, concreteness and courtesy. Guided by these four principles, some practical writing skills are introduced in detail.Chapter five is conclusion. The main points of this thesis are concluded and the relationship between the stylistic features of Chinese business correspondence and their writing are further discussed.
