The harmonious development of family and country serves as the essential feature in Chinese culture and society. That is to say, family is the epitome of country, and country is the extension of family, and they develop consistently. Therefore, children cultivation as an important function of family education, concerns the kindness and filial piety of the descendents and the inheriting of the rising and declining of family and country. What's more, Chinese literature has inherited morality-carried and cultivation-oriented tradition. So, the union of literature and education becomes a necessity. In the academic circle, fiction with the subject of education is called education fiction. Here, the dissertation calls those stories with the content of family education, the fiction of family education. Concerning its history, education fiction as well as the fiction of family education grows more mature and prosperous in the Qing Dynasty, and the period was represented by the emergence of numerous short stories and《Qiludeng》-- the first long fiction, in the history of Chinese literature.The dissertation aims to observe and explore the short education stories which involves the theme of family education in the Qing Dynasty from four aspects: firstly, the dissertation defines the concept of the fiction of family education and generalizes its overall style and features as well as progress characteristics Secondly, the dissertation explores the main features and reasons for its formation. It is pointed out that novels show different characteristics in different periods of the Qing dynasty. In the early period, fictions are concerned about fathers'cultivation on children, and in the middle, fictions are mainly about little brothers'forgiverness to edler brothers as well as sisters'guidance on brothers. In the later period, fictions begin to lay emphasis on education envionment and merchants'culuivation on children. Thirdly, the dissertation expounds on the education thinking—moral education, the education of diligence and respecting teachers, and the emphasis on envionment influence and spsritual inspiration, expressed in the fiction of family education in the Qing Dynasty in terms of education content as well as education method. Lastly, the dissertation probes into its artistic characteristics from the aspect of writing skill and forms of expression, holding that although the fiction of family education in the Qing Dynasty doesn't make much overall artistic achievement, its individual characters'portral and subject generalization.
