China, a great country with a history of over 5,000 years, boasts its splendid culture and abundant tourist materials. Chinese tourist materials, as a principal means of promoting tourism, introduce the natural wonders and historical relics to overseas friends and cast an irresistible charm on them. Chinese-English(C-E) tourist culture translation is thriving and facing more challenges in the choice of appropriate strategies, thus bringing about more relevance of the study of C-E tourist translation strategies to tourist translation practices. Some Chinese translation scholars are paying more and more attention to the translation strategies of tourist culture and have made a lot of useful researches on it.This thesis is designed to provide a comprehensive study in this field and explore proper translation methods of tourist culture under the guidance of the dynamic choice of domestication and foreignization. This thesis consists of four chapters besides its introduction and conclusion. Introduction briefly outlines the theme, the writing purpose and methodology of this thesis. Chapter One examines the literature review of tourist texts and researches on the translation of tourist texts, pointing out that cultural translation is the most important factor in the translation of tourist texts. Chapter Two gives a further exploration on the cultural translation in tourist texts, pointing out the definition, levels and resources of tourist culture, analyzing the studies of cultures related to tourist translation, and comparing the differences between Chinese culture and Western culture. Chapter Three makes a study of dynamic choice of domestication and foreignization, with the help of text typology and skopos theory, analyzing the three major factors which affect dynamic choice of domestication and foreignization in cultural translation of tourist texts. Chapter Four proposes some suggested practical translation methods under the guidance of dynamic choice of domestication and foreignization to better convey the cultural information by classifying the examples collected. To be specific, all the proposed translation methods are based on the characteristics of Chinese tourist culture materials. The final part is Conclusion, which is a final summary of this thesis. It provides some suggestions for Chinese tourist culture translators, and points out the practical value of this thesis.
