China, as you know, has a very long history .The southern Tang dynasty is short and small compared with other dynasties of China. However, it has a very important position in the history of literature in China. Though the country is short, it left a large number of literary works.This article holds the idea that: there are 92 poets and 2228 poems are handed down in southern Tang dynasty. Among them, hundreds of poems were written by XuXua,LiZhong,chentao and LiJianxun. It includes all forms of poetry, especially those seven words per line, and rhyming poems. They matured completely and were widely applied in many positions by all kinds of people. The Southern Tang poets can be divided into court poets, seclusion poets and poets who wrote poems modeled on BaiJuyi.The lyrics are considered to be the most representative in the literature of Nantang. There are 155 lyrics and a number of residual sentences remained. The lyrics of Nantang are important elements and made great effects in the late Tang and Northern Song dynasty. Although the number of works is small, it has very high artistic values not only in Northern Song Dynasty, but also on later generations. The representative writers of Southern Tang lyrics are LijJing,LiYu,and Feng Yansi.According to the Statistics based on"Total Tang Articals" the number of articals existed in Nantang is 373. Of which Li Bian7,Li Jing 12,Li Yu 7,Song Qiqiu 4,Chen Zhiyong104,Pan You4,Han Xizai 6,Xu Xuan181,Xu Kai 6. There are two kinds of articles, which are prose and parallel styles, although it was the time of the intermittent of prose movement and parallel style was fashion at that time ,the proses of Nantang also toke a very important position.The literature of Nantang is a miracle in the history of Chinese literature and the reasons for this prosperity is a mystery in the literary history. This article holds the idea that there are nine reasons: 1, rich cultural heritage; 2, the relatively closed geographical environment; 3, a stable political environment; 4, a developed state of the economy; 5, north writers' immigration; 6, the strong emphasis on the rulers; 7, the examples set by the ruling class; 8, the impact of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism ideological thinking to literature; 9, calligraphy, painting and other arts' infiltration to the literature.
