Based on the review of contemporary researches on task-based teaching in domestic and abroad, this study puts forward a new teaching modle—task-based teaching to solve the problems in college English reading instruction .According to the results of experiment and questionnaire, it is found that task-based teaching method is better than traditional method in improving students'learning and comprehensive ability.Chapter1:Introduction.(1)based on the epoch background and educational background, this chapter outlines the development of task-based teaching in domestic and abroad;(2)proposes the relevant researching problems, and describes significance and methodology of the research;(3)reviewed the current researches of task-based teaching in domestic and abroad.Chapter2:The background and current of college English reading instruction.(1)describes the nature and process of reading;(2)elaborates the instruction background of college English reading;(3) analysis the instruction currents of college English reading;(4) according to the current Problems, then put forward a new teaching model(task-based teaching).Chapter3: Elaboration the model of task-based teaching.(1)discusses the concepts and characteristics of task and task-based teaching;(2)analyzes the values of task-based teaching;(3)sets forth the basic theories of the research: language acquisition,situated cognition and social culture;(4) put forward some notes that should be paid in the task-based teaching;(4) identifies the task-based teaching process and evaluation.Chapter4: The experimental research. Results of the experiment showed that task-based teaching model is practicable and effective in promoting the students'English learning.Chapter5: Conclusions. This chapter summarizes the results and findings, then presents the limits of this study, at last put forward some suggestions for future research.
