Classical Chinese poem is the cream of our national culture and it contains so many cultural connotations and literary values. Thus, as one of the great carriers of culture, classical Chinese poetry translation plays a very important role in spreading our national culture. Song Meng Haoran Zhi Guangling is a very popular poem in Tang Dynasty by a famous poet LiBai, so it is significant to translate it and present to the world. In the past twenty years, scholars in our country have made some progress in translation theory, most of which, however, focus on novel translation. Researches in classical Chinese poem translation study are relatively few, and discussions about the transferrence and reproduction of artistic conception are much more inadequate. Therefore, close attention must be paid to artistic conception so that the spirit and aesthetic beauty and charm of classical Chinese poems can be transferred to readers of translated versions. Surely, it is not an easy task to make in both aspects, but the author of this paper prefers to preserve the romantic charm by way of the artistic conception of the original with small changes and few differences when only one aspect can be achieved.Relevance theory highlights the importance of context and aims to obtain maximum information with minimum efforts. Since the achievement of optimal relevance is the key in relevance theory, the translator has to decide in what aspects and to what degree the target text shall resemble the source one, or in other words, what kind of strategy or method should be chosen to achieve adequate contextual effects so as to reproduce the original artistic conception in poetry translation. Accordingly, after generalizing the features of classical Chinese poetry, the author has illustrated the difficulties and feasibilities of classical Chinese poetry translation by analyzing the differences in poetry creation between China and western countries. Above all, the reproduction of artistic conception is discussed through the analysis of the different English versions of Song Meng Haoran Zhi Guangling in the aspect of imagery, visual and musical effect. Based on the comparative study of those distinctive English versions of Song Meng Haoran Zhi Guangling, the author tries to put forward some effective methods and strategies for the purpose to preserve and represent artistic conception and romantic charm of the original in a fresh view on the basis of relevance theory in a hope that some strategies and methods can be used for the practical translation of classical Chinese poetry.
