Research On Chen Duxiu's Political Ideas In May Fourth Period

Chen Duxiu is a figure of great complexity with a far-reaching influence in Modern China.His political thought covers the two stages,the Old Democratic Revolution and the New Democratic Revolution,and it is a part of the spiritual legacy of the early history of CPC. Chen's political ideas in the period of May 4th Movement truthfully reflected the main social contradictions and the changes in the complicated class relationship in Modern China.To analyze and study Chen's political ideas in the period of May 4th Movement is of great importance in the analysis and study of the history of the political thoughts in Modern China and the forepart phylogeny of the Party's ideological.This paper makes the May 4^th Movement as the boundary,studies the contents and features of Chen's political ideas in May 4^th period,analyzes reasons for change of Chen's political ideas and gives the overall evaluation of his ideas.Chapter One studies the major contents and features of Chen's political ideas during the May 4^th.The contents of his ideas are rich and meaningful.The Capitalist Democracy is a very important part of his political ideas.He pursued the equal human rights and desired to establish a Republic of the Bourgeoisie.He analyzed the Nationality,advanced programming order to raise the quality of the whole nation.His Socialist ideas are mainly reflected from his understanding,acceptation and propaganda of Socialism.Meanwhile,he described the necessity to establish the Communist Party of China.He insisted on the guidance of Marxism and the principle of establishing the Party.In order to build the real party,he made great efforts.Chen Duxiu's political ideas changed from Capitalist Democracy to Marxism during the May 4^th,and it also reflected the epochal characteristics.Chapter two analyzes the reasons for ideological change of Chen duxiu.The evolution of Chen's political ideas is not only influenced by serious national crisis and ethnic conflicts,but also closely related to himself.Under the influence of the October Revolution and the failure of the Paris Peace Conference,Chen Duxiu gave up the Capitalist Democracy,his political ideas had profoundly diversification,and he put the Marxism to be his belief.Chapter Three gives the entire analysis to Chen Duxiu's political ideas during the May 4^th.Chen's political thought is very important in modern Chinese ideology history,and it has pofound significance in practice.But there also exist serious defects in his political thought. Chen's political ideas during the May 4^th are complicated.Although he changed to be a Marxist,there also exist a lot of old Democracy leftover ideas in his political ideas,his political ideas didn't change completely.It may be said that the new and the old both existed.
