John Donne was the representative of Metaphysical Poertry in England in the 17th century, he became a unique poet with special metaphysical thoughts, grotesque images, and rough poetry, also the focus of critics for centuries. The thesis attempts to make a comparative study between Donne's poems and Zhuangzi which is the representative of Taoist, For avoiding universal words, the article just compares the related images of Donne's poems and Zhuangzi by closely linked to the text, as to find their similarities. The introduction mainly talks about the global research status of Donne's poems, including the achievement and shortage, either the preliminary exploration of the comparability of images between Donne's poems and Zhuangzi.Chapter one discusses the image of circle, Donne's circles mainly symbolize the eternal love and holy God, while Zhuangzi's circles symbolize the accommodation of Taoist which constitutes the essence.Chapter two discusses the personification of non-human images, including the personification of living things, inanimate things, as well as supernatural things. From the moral of the performance, the images of Donne's Pomes are mostly from the love poems and religious poems, which are also the expression of love and religion. Zhuangzi indicates the inactive way of "sageliness within and kingliness without" from the expression of the universe and life, political views and other aspects.Chapter three discusses the images of death, including the ambiguity of life and death, and attitude towards death. Donne's poetry depicts many of the world after death, the boundaries of life and death are often vague, the attitudes towards death are also paradoxical, that is longing for death while resisting it. "No life and no death", and "death and life in the same way" in Zhuangzi's view also illustrates the ambiguity of life and death, Zhuangzi's attitude towards death is "death and life are destiny",living as a destiny and looking for freedom.
