Graduate education is a high-level of higher education, to carry out the important task of scientific and technological innovation, scientific research. Graduate students are the main force in scientific research, their English level is directly related to learn from the advanced experience of foreign countries in scientific research more effectively, as well as the ability to better introduce our progress of scientific research to the international academic community, The level of English through the comprehensive application of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating to achieve a comprehensive oral and written communication. However, the Present situation is that even after more than 10 years of English learning, graduate English level is still unable to meet the demands of reality, there are still problems in the academic exchange in English, reading English literature and publishing research results in English, etc. it has been revealed that the factors of constraint China's scientific research in the international influence.Integration of multiple test scores, include that the post-graduate students score of the band-4 and band-6 English, graduate final examination and degree English examination. Through average score, passing rate, the highest score, the lowest s core and the distribution of the scores of paragraphs to find the problems of English synthesis application ability. And use the self questionnaire to analysis the problems and propose the solutions. For English teaching and learning, enhance the English comprehensive application ability to provide a reference.This study involves multiple levels of post-graduate examination results, including the post-graduate students score of the band-4 and band-6 English, graduate final examination and degree English examination. The results show that:(1) various parts of Students English in listening, reading, writing, translation develop unbalanced. Some of them, reading, writing and translation are better, listening is worse.(2) As can be seen from various levels of examinations vary widely among students, high scores low scores differ greatly (3) there ate differences in different major students, science and engineering(p<0.001),liberal arts students are better than agricultural student, art students are worse(p<0.01), English of various departments develop unbalanced(p<0.05). The self-evaluation of graduate English synthesis application ability showed that:(1)Overall, the standard of postgraduate English at the general level AVG.M=4.07, for all aspects of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, the level of reading (M=4.57,) is better, followed by the writing(M=3.70) and translation(M=3.66); listening(M=3.33) and speaking (M=2.84)are worse. (2)The aggregate level of girls'English is better than boys', the overall level of English (p<0.01)and reading aspect (p<0.01) have significant difference.(3) There are differences in three grades of graduate, grade one and three are no different, reading aspect is different from grade one to grade two(p<0.05), writing is different (p<0.01),translation is different(p<0.01);oral English is different from grade two to grade three,(p<0.05),reading and writing are significantly different (p<0.001),(4) In many aspects of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation, students think the most important is oral English, secondly is listening, thirdly is reading; for the most difficult is English listening and oral English, oral English and Listening are not the important but difficult.(5) The goal of learning English is related to their further education and employment, but for the practicality of English paid little attention, only 36.1% of the students chose to learn to communicate in English.Overall, the graduate English synthesis application ability should improvement. particularly in listening and speaking. Development of English listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation are uneven; the graduate level of different professions and gender are not balanced; graduate English level is not balanced, there are big gap between low score and high score. The graduate English synthesis application ability results unsatisfactory may be due to four aspects:First, did not find a good learning methods; Second, the single teaching methods and teaching are boring; Third, learning objectives are not clearly, only to pass the test; Fourth, master of English syllabus lag. Therefore, it is necessary to take the students through the cultivation of learning methods to enhance teaching skills of teachers, using a variety of teaching methods to stimulate learning motivation, to develop students interests in learning as well as the syllabus prepared by appropriate measures to better improve the overall proficiency.
