Being philosopher out of academism, both Camus'and Nietzsche's philosophy lack strict logic in form. However, the subjects of their philosophy are clear and the same. They confront the same problem:without God, how human's life is possible. Their whole philosophical thoughts focus on this problem. And they both look for the answer in the philosophy of ancient Greece. There are similarities and differences between their living times and their personal experiences. So do the answers they find. They both live in modern capitalist society. In this times, after science and reason conquer the religion, their own limitation becomes obvious; all of the traditional standards of value cannot provide a reliable fundation for human life any longer; human being was situated in a homeless state; the soul of human was threatened by nihilism. Nietzsche lives in the early capitalist society which is beginning to turn to monopoly capitalism society. At that time, the defects of capitalist society have not been fully exposed and many people live with a philosophy of rational optimism. Although God is dead, the idea of God remains in the western traditional values whose core idea is Christian ethics. Most of the people don't know how terrible the situation is into which human being will be placed by the death of God. Nevertheless, Camus lives in a somewhat different times. After two world wars, the capitalist societies break down overall. The cruel war not only tramples on human life, but also destroy all the beautiful dreams of human. At the same time, People no longer have any illusions about traditional values. They have clearly comprehended the value vacuum which was caused by the death of God. As far as their personal experiences are concerned, both Camus and Nietzsche aquire great honnor, pleasure and happy. However, most of their life is accompanied with extreme pain. Both Camus'and Nietzsche's father die early; they are weak and sick throughout their life;they both experience the emotional suffer; their life is full of hardship and frustration; they feel lonely deeply too. Given all of these facts; their attempts to look for the way out for human being are to save themselves. Philosophy is not a game for them, but a life experience. They study philosophy not from the perspective of a spectator, but from that of an agent. To study philosophy is their way of life. They both look for their deity in the ancient Greece in order to save themselves. Nietzsche identifies Dionysus as his deity and Camus identifies Sisyphus as his. Despite the continuos changes of their life experiences, they are loyal to their own deity throughout their life. The similarities and differences between Dionysus and Sisyphus are just as those between Nietzsche and Camus and are just as those between their philosophy of life. They dicover the sources of their motivation of life from their respective deity, namely the spirit of absurdity and the spirit of Dionysus. Absurdity, rebellion, temperance, confession and "the first man" in Camus' philosphy are signs of the spirit of absurdity. The death of God, revaluation of all values, the will to power, perpetual transmigration and the superman in Nietzsche's philosophy are signs of the spirit of Dionysus. The spirits had intepertated the quintessence of the philosophy of life of Camus and Nietzsche.
