From trial to implementation, College English Curriculum Requirements has put forward the computer-and classroom-based teaching model. Under this new model, students need have more autonomous learning ability. As a key factor influencing learner'English competence, learning strategies have been paid more and more attention by researchers at home and abroad. This thesis carries out a systematic and scientific research on network-based English language learning strategies. It tries to find out the present situation of learning strategies use under network learning context by comparing with strategy use under conventional context. It aims to improve students'autonomous learning ability. Therefore, the present study of English language learning strategies under network context has both theoretical and practical significance.The present study adopts literature review, questionnaire survey, interview, spot observation and other research methods. It carried out a scientific research on network-based learning strategies and conventional learning strategies. Average of data and Independence Samples Test is used to judge and compare application of different strategies. Research shows that learners adopted English learning strategies under both two learning contexts. But learners used few learning strategies for English learning under two contexts. Overall averages of strategy use frequency under two contexts were at a medium level. Learners used less learning strategies under network-based learning context than under conventional learning context. It tells learners lack more strategies under network-based learning context. Findings show that, learning context itself and personal factors affect learners'choice of learning strategies under both learning contexts. This study analyses influence of gender, personality and learning achievement on learners'use of strategies.This thesis explores the problems and reasons of strategy use under network-based learning context. Based on this, it puts forward the necessity of strategy training and how to carry out strategy training. Since learners are lack of learning strategies, a systematic strategy training is necessary and essential because it is a direct and effective measurement to improve students'awareness and application of strategies. The present study is expected to provide some valuable implications for study on effectiveness of strategy training in the future.
