The Otani expedition refers to the three trips to Xinjiang, Gansu, Qinghai, Xizang of China and India between August 1902 and July 1914, carried out under the leadership of Count Otani Kozui, the 22nd abbot of the Nishi Honganji monastery in Kyoto. The Otani expedition is very important for Japanese Dunhuang Studies. In three expeditions into Central Asia, Turfan is a very important place for team members. By their diaries, this thesis will make Otani expedition's activities in Turfan out.
