The opera masks are the indispensable part in the traditional drama performance constitution, it also fully conveys the national marking artistic forms. It transmits the unique culture connotation and Chinese national color custom, and also contains the drama art with special, intrinsic and esthetic characteristics. This article takes the opera masks color as the object of study, dealing with the proof of opera mask from the beginning to the maturity, the evolution course and the evolution path, the history of makeup color in the different development phase, including esthetics, special characteristic and the shape styles, the examination inquires into the styles of makeup color system and cultural transmission and the image construction, mining opera mask in color shading and its Inherent laws and the meanings.The article was divided into three parts,It includes the introduction, the main body and conclusion.The introduction outlines opera mask and the process of color development, reviewing present situation of world's research and combs briefly, .putting across the values and the innovation of this article.The first chapter: The styles of makeup evolution and color changing. Reviewing the origin of opera mask, outlining intellectual circles'different viewpoints on this subject, under traditional explanation of culture influence and unique color connotation. Defining main stages of opera mask, and combing different stages of makeup color, the styles and evolution path.The second chapter:Matching styles of makeup color with transmission of cultural connotation. In the totem worship and worship of the heaven and the earth, the early shape of the mask and color consciousness, not only filling the mystical religious atmosphere, but also highlighting the worship toward ancient color system. The traditional color belief system, which unites Yin and Yang, five elements, that is jin, mu, shui, huo, tu, heaven and human, both have completed connection with the styles of makeup color and the moral judgment directly, and has established the opera mask's five color taboo and cultural connotation. Makeup color with brief and manifold patterns, which mixed with classical philosophy of confucian esthetics and the non-government and entertainment drama aesthetics in- depthThe conclusion summarized the rule of drawing, the intrinsic literary meaning and the esthetic tastes of the make-up in Chinese traditional plays.
