Focusing on the court music institutions and the official music system in Qing dynasty, this paper describes them with reference to the historical and cultural background of Qing'establishment and illustrates their historical position. Besides the paper explores the evolution and specialty of them.Before Qing's establishment, Manchu's musical culture absorded a lot of facoters from mainland's musical culture, which is the foundation of the music system in the ealy Qing dynasty. After Qing directly follow the official institutions and the music system of Ming dynasty, it set Tai Chang Temple and Jiaofang in the court. From the early Qing dynasty to Emperor Kangxi, the government strengthened the management of Tai Chang Temple, on the other hand Jiaofang was in decline; From Yongzheng to Qianlong, a new music organization - Music Department wad set up, court music was in its prosperity. But the setting did not change the fate of decline of the court music in Qing dynasty.The music official system in Qing Dynasty mostly inherited from the former dynasty, which not only had a series of music official settings, and also had sound music official functions. Compared with the Ming dynasty, Qing had more kinds of music officials, however their functions had little change.This paper studies the court music institution and music official system in Qing dynasty, which helps us understand their origin, formation, operation and the change of their functions. The paper can give us a better understanding of their functions in Qing court music, and help us learn the court music completely. Through the research, it changes people's idea that the music in Qing dynasty has nothing to research. Thereby we can understand the court music in Qing dynasty accurately and establish a correct view of music history.
