Cooperative learning (CL) is regarded as one of the most efficient teaching strategies. Many researches have proved that CL plays an important role in improving both academic achievements and social skills. Among abundant researches, the CL Approach used to improve the oral English competence is not often found in practice.This research has discussed two questions:Can students improve their oral English competence obviously through implementing CL? How to carry out CL in the college oral English class effectively? The data shows that the result is marked, and the following measures can warrant the implementation of CL approach in oral English teaching:establishing group construction, activating group function and creating positive interdependence and individual accountability.
