Effects Of Materials' Characteristics And Personality Traits On Temporal Cognition

Time is the fundamental form of matter existence, time information is the basic dimension for human to describe the world, The temporal cognition of human includes two types as the following:full time duration and blank time duration, the present researches focus on full time duration, there still some disagreements about the emotional effects on temporal cognition, for example, whether attention arousal effects occur only at low arousal state and longer time-windows. Besides, the researchers neglects the fields of blank time process. So it's necessary to explore the blank time process and how the personality traits affects the temporal cognition.In order to solv^ the dilemma of present studies and extend the fields of temporal cognition, the study employed two paradigms in the experiments to explore the emotional effects on temporal cognition.Summarized the results analysis and general discussion, we concluded the following:1,Personality traits can affect temporal cognition, schizoid and nervous individuals tended to overestimate physical time; the individuals who had high scores on the dimension of introversion-neuroticism revealed physiologi-cal arousal effect for the estimation of negative-high arousal pictures, which revealed their subjective time was longer than the other three groups.2,There were differences between time bisection and time generalization paradigm in process of full time duration, the physiological arousal effects of positive-high arousal pictures could be observed in 4 experimental groups only in time bisection task; the groups which had high scores of extroversion-neuroticism and introversion-neuroticism didn't reveald physiological arousal effects in time generalization task. In blank time process, the two paradigm revealed no significant differences.3,There existed difference between full time and blank time process, the typical manifestation is the following: physiological arousal effects of negative-high arousal pictures were not observed in blank time cognition; physiological arousal effects of negative-high arousal pictures could not be influenced by the temporal types.
