Rumination is thoughts and behaviours that focus the depressed individual's attention on his or her symptoms and the possible causes and consequences of those symptoms. It closely related with mental health. By revising the rumination scale and trying to do some preliminary study on the application can make our indepth understanding of rumination and its relationships with mental health, and put forward feasible suggestions to promote mental health.Thesis includes two parts:First, we explored the psychometric characteristics of Ruminative Responses Scale (RRS) in Chinese version. Then we explored the relationships about rumination, perfectionism and mental health, and rumination should be attached as a mediating variable affecting the relations between perfectionism and mental health. The study carried out with questionnaire, participants was from the several colleges and universities in ZheJiang Province, a total of 912 members. Different statistical methods were used in the whole data process, such as factor analysis, correlation analysis, multiple hierarchical regression, and structural equation modeling. Based on the analysis and discussion, the conclusions are followed:(1) The revised Rumination Response Scale (RRS) is appropriate for assessment of rumination in Chinese college, with high reliability and validity; According to the results of factor analysis, nine factor are found in the scale, they are symptoms of rumination, reflection and brooding;(2) There is no significant urban and grade differences in rumination, but the significant difference in gender has been found in symptoms of rumination and brooding, women tend to ruminate more than men.(3) There is no significant urban, gender and grade differences in perfectionism.(4) There is no significant urban, gender and grade differences in mental health.(5) Rumination plays a partly mediating role between the relationship of perfectionism and mental health.
