The Art Research Of Shaanxi Guanzhong Traditional Residential Of Doors And Windows

The unique geographical environments, natural conditions, historical origins and the soil of social customs and morals of Guanzhong area in Shaanxi conceived and nutured the traditional dwellings of Guanzhong whose doors and windows perseact as the carriers of traditional culture and forever reflects the intimate connection of residential views and traditional culture. The traditional residential doors and windows of Guanzhong, by its exceptional artistic charm, epitomize the traditional residential ornamental art and culture of Guanzhong. From the perspective of art, the traditional residential art of doors and windows exhibit much of humanism spirit.There is a growing interest in the art of doors and windows recently, nevertheless, few research concerning the traditional residential art of doors and windows has been conducted.On the foundation of extant documents and resources, this thesis draws first hand information via field investigations, surveys and on spot drawings of the traditional residential art of doors and windows of Shaanxi and applies the comprehensive research methodologies of comparison, induction and analysis. Starting with the artistic background of traditional residential art of doors and windows, it concludes the types and characteristics of traditional residential doors and windows. The artistic form of doors and windows and the distinguishing feature of their appreciation is focus of this study, discussing the aspects of ornamented elements and artistic expression, the decorative materials and crafting techniques and the appreciation of doors and windows etc. Futhermore, this thesis examines the art of doors and windows of different periods and the factors which caused its formation; This thesis asserts that the techniques of traditional residential doors and windows of Guanzhong as traditional folk craft belongs to intangible cultural heritage which is of uttermost importance for the preservation of the techniques of crafting of doors and windows and that they share a symbiosis relation with their carrier-the traditional residential of Guanzhong. Via digital animation, the thesis made the artistic reproduction of the techniques of crafting doors and windows. Last but not least, thoughts and proposals are forwarded for the direction of development of the traditional Guanzhong residential art of doors and windows.By expounding and analyzing the artistic form and feature of appreciation of traditional Guanzhong residential art of doors and windows in detail, the unique charm of this art form of traditional Guanzhong residential doors and windows and fine craft is appreciated. A deeper understanding of this unique art of doors and windows is reached and at the same time the technical and artistic, the traditional and modern methods of production have been trialed, making new progress in the modern design of the traditional Guanzhong art of doors and windows and especially the production techniques of crafting traditional Guanzhong doors and windows.
