Baogong Drama of Yuan Zaju is an important branch of theater, and it has not only served as an important connecting link for the dissemination of Baogong literature, but also laid a solid foundation on shaping the Baogong image. This thesis, whose research subjects are 10 existing and intact Baogong Drama of Yuan Zaju, explores the legal background where it came into being, the shaping of the Baogong image, and Baogong's alternative between affection and law in the dramas as well as its social and cultural connotations.The whole thesis is divided into three parts: introduction, body, and conclusion. Introduction: Retrospect the research status quo of Baogong literature of the academic community, do a brief comb and make a summary statement on the viewpoints and innovations of this thesis.The body is divided into three chapters.Chapter I: the social and legal environment of Yuan Dynasty and the emergence of Baogong Drama. The legal system of Yuan Dynasty was in great chaos. In the early Yuan Dynasty, there was no law to abide by. The law openly protected the interests of the privileged class, leading to extreme corruption in official management and administration of justice. People living in such an environment people hope to have an honest and upright official to help them. In addition, the literators of Yuan Dynasty could not secure an official position, so they began to work at the creation of Zaju Drama. Baogong Drama thus arose.Chapter II: Evolution of the Baogong image in Baogong Drama of Yuan Zaju. Bao Zheng is really a historic figure in history. He was an official, a politician, and a reformer of Northern Song Dynasty. In his whole life, he was filial, loyal, fair, honest, selfless, and very concerned about the country and people. There is a big difference between Baogong in Yuan Zaju and real-life Bao Zheng. In drama, he was given more other outstanding qualities: easily approachable, full of wisdom, witty, humorous, trying ghosts and communicating gods. Such changes are the psychological demands of the literators of the Yuan Dynasty beyond the individual, but also the call for social justice of Yuan Dynasty.Chapter III: Baogong's alternative between affection and law in the dramas as well as its social and cultural connotations.
