In accordance with the College English Curriculum Requirement enacted by the Ministry of Education in 2004, a round of College English Teaching Reform based on computer and the web is being launched in a lot of domestic colleges and universities. With the"student-centered"concept deep-rooted in everyone's mind, most English teachers begin to doubt their role in the teaching and learning process. Their teachers'beliefs meet with unprecedented shaking. In view of the above, the thesis reviews research results on teachers'beliefs home and abroad, adopts questionnaire and semi-structured interview as research instruments and conducts contrastive study about the current situation of college English teachers'beliefs, mainly investigating the influence brought by the Reform on teachers'beliefs. Through analyzing the research results, the thesis summarizes contradictions between teachers'beliefs and several other important elements during college English teaching and learning process and puts forward certain implications and suggestions to college English teaching, so as to inspire more English teachers to understand and pay attention to"teachers'beliefs", thus improving the overall quality of college English teaching.
