The Philosophical Significance Of Giere's Model Theory

Model is the tool of thought. In philosophy, the model is more abstracting; it can evolve with the different research program. Giere's model theory can be considered as an instrumental epistemology, its research objectives were to explain the world and science. In his view, the scientific description is not comprehensive, every people all have their own different interpretations. Because of the influence of certain factors, it can not be explained accurately and scientifically. Similarly, the science which scientific model represented is understood from a specific or limited perspective. Giere's model based on the practical issues and scenarios, used a known method to solve the problem, and expressed a view of the world by using the instrumental model.
