Cheng Zhongying has a profound theoretical knowledge of the Chinese Philosophy and the Western Philosophy, the course of learning and thinking he walked is a"first beyond aloof"and"enter into the inner". He proposed to the"New"Neo-Confucianism and the Ontological Explanantism in the influence of Fang Dongmei and Quine. This is the major theoretical contribution of Cheng Zhongying, but also the content studied in this paper.The development of Confucianism was divided into five stages by Cheng Zhongying. He also explained every stages under ontological, the core he studied was the original stage and the Neo-Confucianism of the Song and Ming dynasties. The Neo-Confucianism put forward had necessity because of the five stages and the Ontological Explanantism. The"New"Neo-Confucianism is a bid for"restoration of the Chinese philosophy", by the process of"deconstructing","constructing"and"restorating". restoration of the philosophy. Cheng Zhongying necessitated to solve the problem of modernization and universalization of the"New"Neo-Confucianism. In the modern and universal background,"C-theory"that combined the New Neo-Confucianism and the Ontological Explanantism is application of the Confucianism'modernization. The final purpose that New Neo-Confucianism wants to realize was not modernization and universalization, but returning the Confucianism.The"New"Neo-Confucianism is still a developing system of philosophy, his system is also evolving and moving toward maturity. However, it is undeniable that there are some theoretical difficulties and shortcomings in his system, which he has realized in his research process. We look forward to more value can be created for our research.
