For an actor, to create a character successfully, annotation of the complete character is the key. An actor create a character through the behavior in play. The character, its characteristics and the behavior are associated and mutual influenced. Many performance scholars at home and abroad have studied on the character and personality, but few truly discussed the relationship among them in depth. This article will have a further discussion about it on the basis of the theoretical knowledge of predecessors and my own experience. when an audience understand a kind of character, they first notice the behavior of the person and then distinguish his character.So to seize the personalities is the key of shaping a role. What a character say and do depends on what his personality is. Therefore, it is useful to shape a character according to his behavior. The character's personality makes his behavior, attitude logic and emotional expression. It is very impotant to understand the relationship of the character's personality , his characteristics and behavior. The character's personality can be enriched by his characteristics and be completed by his behavior finally. The so-called behavior refers to certain routinized, standardized and systematic social roles shaped in social life. In general, it can be called performance in the condition in which we can the behavior. The character's personality controls his behavior and in most situatuations constrains his behavior. But the way of behavior is not unchanging, it changes along the the event and the relationship among characters. When we creat a complete character, we should shape distinct personalities because audiences hope to see a live person. So we have to show the personalities acording to behaviors and keep changing in different events and different character relations. So that we can make the character rich and compeleted.The kind of the personality dicides what kind of characteristics and the behavior the character has. Character determines behavior and behavior is affected character. But the behavior will change with the changing of relationship among people and events, while the character will not change with the character changing.To figure out the relationship among them will help the actors shapethe role better, grasp the details and the key point. Only to observe life carefully and experience ourself,we can have a clear explanation of the character in play, show to the audience. In this way, the the image of the characters we shape can be richer, fuller and perspective.
