The Unbearable Lightness of Being is an outstanding novel of Milan Kundera. This novel depicts Thomas, Theresa and other persons's complex emotions andlife experiences around the theme"light and heavy". They explore the mystery of the life's"light"and"heavey"in different ways. After a long and rough experience, they all fall into the tragedy by the cause of the"Unbearable Lightness of Being".Many scholars interest in analyzing the novel's ideological content and artistic characterisics from the philosophy and aesthetic of view, or study the theme of political and historical. Few researchers have a comprehensive discuss base on a psychological view. This theory according to Freud's psychoanalysis to analyze the Dream and Oedipus Complex in the novel, to summarize the novel's Freudianism featuers.Introduction part introduces the nove's main content, sums up the current domestic and foreign results of research, interprets the concept of Freudianism and the relations among freudianism, literature and literary criticism.Chapter one analyses the dreams and the fantasy storys in the novel according to the Freud's theory of dream. Freud said:"Dream meets the unconscious desire."So these dreams and fantasy storys reflects the inner world of characters.Chapter two discusses the theme of Oedipus Complex from Freud's view about Oedipus Complex, and conducts an in-depth analysis on the relationships between Oedipus Complex and the characters'behavior.Conclusion part summarizes the results of innovation and research of this papetr. The Unbearable Lightness of Being has some obvious Freudianisms, but few researchers pay attention to take some comprehensive studies. And my paper mainly studys the novel's Freudianism featuers base on freud's psychological points, to probe pepole's inner thoughts, the relationships between one and another, and to think what is the cause leading to tragedy. So that we can have a better understanding on Kundera's novels and his arts'features.
