China underwent the transition from old to modern in the early twentieth century, some outstanding emerged in various field, such as Wang Guowei, Cai Yuanpei and Zong Baihua in aesthetics, etc. Their aesthetic thought have been studied in-depth by descendants, at the same time, some peoples are neglected, TengKu is one of them. TengKu has studied in Japan and Germany, he was proficient in Chinese and Western culture. Although he has no system study to aesthetics in the works, the detailed art research and analysis revealed his aesthetics everywhere. Facing the dilemma situation of Chinese aesthetics, TengKu did the efforts to promote the development of Chinese aesthetics, this mainly reflected in his reference to Western art research methods and have a breakthrough, such as style analysis,the use of evolutionary theory, etc. It also reflected in the emphasis on the artistic life, such as the interpretation of art life ontology,the pursuit of "Living Force", these all are the contribution to China's Aesthetics.On the basis of previous research results and detailed analysis of the data, this article is intended to study and interprete TengKu's aesthetics as complete as possible. In order to establish the value and status of TengKu's aesthetics, we have to investigate TengKu's aesthetics in horizontal and vertical by the methods of history and logic. At the same time, we have did the study of TengKu's aesthetics in detail according to its internal logical structure. The study to TengKu's aesthetics will not only restore his aesthetics before the world, let the world understand him, and his scholarly ideas on today's aesthetics are important theoretical inspiration. The article consists of several parts following this:The first part, the background of TengKu's aesthetics. Here have both individual efforts and objective factors. The accumulation of Chinese and Western knowledge is the subjective conditions to TengKu's aesthetics. At the same time, the promote social development trends,the call of the national spirit and especially the progress of Western culture and science in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century are the objective background of TengKu's aesthetics.The second part, flexible and innovative methods of Aesthetics. By the influence of Western cultural and methods in art reserach, TengKu used style analysis, the theory of evolution, culture, history and other methods on the specific analysis of artistic works. At the same time, TengKu has a break through innovation in those methods, formed his own unique methodology. TengKu fixed the inner law of art into the study of artistic style analysis, he considered that the development of artistic styles is closely related to the internal and external environment. His views of the style analysis overcomed the deficiencies of Western and promoted the development of research in art.
