A Research On The Characteristics Of Jingdezhen's Famille Rose In 50 Years Since 1949

A large amount of famille rose decoration ceramics of high quality and fine craftsmanship have been created in Jingdezhen during the 50 years since the foundation of the People's Republic of China and the decoration arts of famille rose ceramics of Jingdezhen has been recovered, developed and revitalized under the government's support and guidance, which lay a solid foundation for the prosperity of the modern famille rose ceramics of Jingdezhen. Both the traditional and the modern characteristcs shall be paid attention to in the development of modern famille rose decoration. A summary of the experience and lessons gained from the past 50 years would shed new light on the advance of the ars in modern times.The paper attempts to carry out a research into the famille rose decoration within the 50 years since the foundation of the People's Republic of China based on the decoration characteristics and a large collection of famille rose ceramics as well as related photos by the method of comparison and general analysis. The research of the recovery and development of famille rose decoration during that period could shed light on the root of the influence of politics, economy, culture, education and craftsmanship heritage of that period on the the formation of famille rose decoration characteristics. A survey of the decoration materials, techniques, forms and themes of famille rose decoration in three different stages is conducted, namely the 17 years since the foundation of the People's Republic of China, the Great Cultural Revolution and the reform and opening up period.Famille rose decoration, which is under a process of changing, is a typical embodiment of China's excellent traditional culture. This paper tries to shed some light on the the relationship of tradition and innovation in the famille rose decoration and the relationship of craftsmanship value and artistic value.
