Zora Neal Hurston is a tragic person.Like her contemporary women,she involvemented in the wave of leature,and her women's luster has been covered by men,or even ostra cized from the community.After decades of silence,Alice Walker rediscovered her and most people pay more attention to her. because of Hurston's black town life experiences and her exploration of black folk culture,she recovered literary researchers'recognization.As a writer who contributed to black folk culture in Harlem Renaissance.Hurston did not protest against racial discrimination and oppression,she realized that to develop black literature needed to excavate black folk culture's spiritual connotation—independence,freedom,equality and enthusiastic.Hurston used black dialect, black folk customs,folk songs, religious ceremonies and folk sermons to show black folk culture.In her study of folklore text Tell my Horse,mules and Men and the novel Jonah's Gourd Vine,Their Eyes Were Watching God,Moses,Man of the Mountain,all of these text displayed black folk culture wonderfully.In addition, Hurston also on the standpoint of the black women,and transcended the race, sex and the class oppression,to help black women to find their own way.Hurston believed that black folk culture has been achieved perfect show on the black women,and because of the combination with black women's self-pursuit and black folk culture,the black folk culture found a new development room.This thesis can be divided into five parts,preface,the bond of Zora Neale Hurston and folk culture,the cultural connotation of black folk culture in Hurston's works, Hurston's contribution to the black folk culture in Harlem Renaissance,the traditional folk culture also finds new dawn of life for black women, conclusion.The preface focuses on analyzing the present academic research status of Hurston,and to disscuss the literary creation and folk culture of Hurston.The first chapter from Hurston's upbringing experience and living environment to describe the original relationship of Hurston and folk culture,and according Hurstons South recount to research the relationship of black folk culture and daily life.The second chapter to explore the cultural connotation of folk culture in Hurston's works,especially to explore the the positive and optimistic behind black community. The third chapter on the background of the Harlem Renaissance, to describe Hurston's contribution to the research of folk culture,and to disscuss the excavation of folk culture in Hurston's works.The fourth chapter from Hurston's folklore text to explain the spiritual home of folk culture.At last come to the conclusion:black folk culture is black race's proud, it not only to let black community full of self-esteem, but also to keep black women awakening.
