This paper takes as research subject the music score and interpretation of William Bolcom's 12 New Etudes for Piano, by means of summary of the musical content and analysis of the music, combining my personal practice and performance, so that the core characteristic of perfect integration of techicality and artistry of the works can be demonstrated.The main body of the paper can be divided into three parts:first, a brief introduction to the life of William Bolcom, his composition style and characteristics, and the 12 New Piano Etudes; second, analysis of this set of etudes from the perspectives of music ontology comparative arrangement, major elements and technique, characteristic image, and musical genre; third, analysis of the key points of techniques embedded, dissecting the basic techniques, modern skill application and training in view of practice and performance.The conclusion of the paper is:these etudes are excellent piano works of perfect integration of technique and artistry.
