A Psychological Research Of College Students' Enterprising Spirit: Theory And Empiricism

Enterprising spirit is a personality trait that person makes positive and active efforts to accomplish a certain task, pursuing success tenaciously. It affected by several factors, and individual difference be embodied. Scientific study on this trait from psychological perspective has provided suggestions on how to improve students'enterprising spirit. In addition, offering the relevant basis.The methods of document analysis, relation and experiment were used to study college students'enterprising spirit. Firstly, previous research were reviewed .And discussed the structure of college students'enterprising spirit. Secondly, compiled the College Students'Enterprising Spirit Questionnaire according to previous results and suggestions of professional people. By testing 843 undergraduates ,the results showed reliability and validity were good. Explored the characteristics of college students'enterprising spirit. Lastly, one experiments had been done in order to research the university students who with different level of enterprising spirit to accomplish the task. Several significant conclusions were drawn as following:(1) Enterprising spirit was not only a synthetical personality, but also a dynamical trait. It has multi-gradation.(2) The questionnaire composed of four dimensionalities: target, conscious, tenacity, desire of self-actualization. Theoretical construction and empirical pattern were matched. Reliability and validity met criterion of psychometrics.(3) Generally, the level of college students'enterprising spirit was over the average scores. Aspect of gender was significant difference, boys were better than girls significantly. Aspect of classes were not significant difference, but the freshmen'scores of conscious dimension were higher than sophomore and junior. Aspect of majors were not significant difference, but the students major in liberal art were significantly better than ones major in science.(4) According to study of relation, there were positive correlation significantly on enterprising and self-strengthening. Regression analysis showed enterprising spirit could significantly predict self-strengthening.(5) Students of sample who with different level of enterprising spirit showed significant differences on persistent and independence. The people with high enterprising spirit was higher significantly than low enterprising spirit.
