For a long time, this novel has been considered as a "pornographic book" and has been banned due to a lot of sexual descriptions. Furthermore, it has also aroused many court cases because of" obscenity " in England, United States, Japan and other countries. But as Wang Zuoliang said in his "Historical Records of English Literature"——"A literary work is never a solitary and seal world, and it needs readers'Imitation, observation. And only through a number of readers'observations and critics' arguments with each other, it will be immortal, because its subject matters and the arts can enrich our spiritual lives, otherwise it will become a mummy in the literary museum." The first part is the initial germination period (1928—1949), which mainly analyze the social and cultural background; The second part is completely frozen period (1949—1976), focusing on analysis of the ideological position; The third part is the increasing popularity period (from 1976 to now), concentrating on analysis of society, culture, psychology and other factors. Finally, I will come up with a few thoughts about "awash" tendency recently presented in our literatures.
