The Shang Culture refers to the archaeology culture mainly created by Shang Ethnicity which established Shang Dynasty after replacing Xia Dynasty to rule Central Plains until Shang Dynasty is annihilated. It mainly distributes in the south bank of Yellow River, taking Zhengzhou and the Anyang Yin Ruins as its central areas. The gradually eastwards spreading of Shang Culture refers to the process of that the Shang Culture spread to the east of China beyond the its own dominated regions after it won its principal status, including the east of Henan, north of Anhui, north of Jiangsu and Shandong areas. This dissertation makes a research on the question of the gradually eastern spreading of Shang Culture, utilizing Archaeology Stratigraphy, Typology and Cultural Elements Analytic Method, and unifying the research achievements of inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells of the Shang Dynasty and the literature materials handed down from generation to generation.First, this dissertation clarifies the major Shang Culture ruins found in east of China on the basement of the characteristics of Shang Culture in central areas.Second, this dissertation makes an typological analysis on the materials mainly including crockery and the bronze excavated in east of China, and divides them into two periods and seven stages combing with the research achievements of Archaeology Stratigraphy. It had four stages in early period and three stages in later period of Shang Culture. It studies the eastwards spreading of every period of Shang Culture in this dissertation. Based on the achievements mentioned above, this dissertation successfully proves that it shaped six local styles in the process of eastwards spreading of Shang Culture:Daxinzhuang type, Shijia type, Subutun type, Anqiugudui type, Panmiao type and Qianzhangda type.This dissertation discusses the phases and characteristics of Shang Culture on the basis of clarifying the eastwards spreading of it. The eastwards spreading of Shang Culture experiences five phases:introduction phase, development phase, prosperity phase, unappetizing declination phase and florescence phase. There are four characteristics of the spreading:gradual propelling from west to east, fluctuation in the process, minor influence in south and major influence in north, existence of Yueshi cultural factors in all phases.In conclusion, this dissertation shows the existence of eastwards spreading of Shang Culture on the basis of typological analysis on the materials excavated in the area of Shandong and the adjoining areas of Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong and Henan. In addition, this dissertation also analyzes the phases of Shang Culture and its absolute chronology, and makes a conclusion of its characteristics on the research achievements of ancient documents and inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells of the Shang Dynasty. Objectively speaking, it will play an important role in researching on the eastern territory of Shang Dynasty, the Shang Culture and the origin of Shang Ethnicity.
