Based on the historical facts, under the guidance of the Marxist theory of politics, the article primarily is divided into a few stages to explain the thought cognition process of democracy in modem China.About from 1840 to 1940, it is an important stage for Chinese to know and practice democracy. As a theory crystal originated from practice about one century, new democracy theory is also the guided thought of the current political system. Generally the formation of the theory divided into three stages: 1840-1890, a preparing period, in which Chinese met the democracy and obtained bitty cognition about it. 1890-1927, an investigative period, in this period Chinese began to study and understand the democracy by practice. 1927-1 940,a shaping period, new democracy theory came into being in this period.The article totally is divided into seven parts:From macroscopic angle the first part discusses the background and topic of the political development in modem china.The second Part: elucidates the study method.The third part analyses cognition level of democracy in modem China from 1840 to 1890.The fourth, fifth parts: With the example of Liang Qi Chao and Sun Zhong Shan, The article analyses democracy concept in transformation age.The sixth part: Regarding Mao Ze Dong as the representative, the article discusses the formation of new democracy theory.The seventh part: The end of the article discusses cognition result and experience about democracy.In order to demonstrate the thought's complicated process, the author not only tries hard for the rich data and meticulous discussion on the content, but also for a subtle and real way in research.
