The study is focused on current situation and countermeasures of China's foreign trade promoting economic growth. First, We review some theories of economic growth and foreign trade promoting economic growth , and generalize the effect mechanisms of foreign trade on economic growth, which is considered as theoretical basis of studying the paper. At the same time, we get some enlightments from the front theories.Second, We positively analyze current situation of China's foreign trade promoting economic growth. On one hand, though China's foreign trade has promoted economic growth since 1978, its genera] contribution to economic growth is only a little . On the other hand, import trade has played a more important role than export trade in promoting China's economic growth in the past 20 years, and the effect mechanism of export trade on economic growth is revealed: export trade?utilization of the spare resources-economic growth.Third, We discuss the problems existed, including three main aspects: 1. The positive effect of foreign trade on economic growth is neither sustainable nor steady. 2. The development of export-sector and non-export-sector is not related to each other. 3. It is a view in traditional economics that import is a decrease in the income cycle and export is a increase in the income cycle, but the result of empirical study indicate that import can provide more motivation for economic growth than that of export As a result, the well-mechanisms of China's foreign trade promoting economic growth aren't formed. To make China's foreign trade promote economic growth sustainably , some countermeasures are given:1. change the idea and meet the challenge of economic globalization2. establish competitive advantage and shift the dynamics in trade3. change the strategy and raise the level of processing trade4. strengthen innovations for institution and raise the competitiveness of enterprises5. ensure a equilibrium of import trade and export trade6. implement the trade policy of opening and moderate protecting... |
