Urban Construction's Assessment Index System And Its Method

The thesis analyses the history and the tendency of the urban development, compares traditional cities to modern ones and illuminates the concept of the modern city and the goal of its development. With the expanding population, the insufficient resources, the deteriorating environment, the accelerating combination of information and economy, the employment of internet in transportation and communication technology and the integration of cities all over the world, more and more severe competitions occur among cities and great changes take place in respect of the urban development strategies, functions and structures. Guided by the notion of the sustainable development and humanism, modern cities launch the all-round development by improving their synthetically environment, competitive power, city imageidentity and human settlement. The thesis studies the meanings and features of these four aspects and sets up their respective assessment index systems. These assessment methods are built on the mathematic models and the sample researches of city. The thesis contributes a lot to the research of the assessment index system, which embodies the major factors concerning the sustainable development such as economy, social environment and regulations.
