Construction project management has been in long history,and the relevant practice is very abundant. As a modern science with systematic theory and method,project management appeared only about 20 years ago in China. It is from reformation and open,advanced project management theory and method are being introduced from western countries into China,along with summarizing the domestic and overseas project management experience,a new managerial science has come into being. With the economic development in China,fixed assets investment keeps on growing,and construction projects are increasing. Meanwhile,various problems in project management are emerging.Starting from the introduction of the background of project management,the article describes the history of project management,the application and development of project management in China briefly. The author has been pursuing project management for many years. Based on own experience,the author provides comprehensive analysis on the problems in project management,and emphasize on construction pace,quality and cost,which are known as three major objectives in project management. For construction pace management,the author analyzes the reason of construction postponing and brings forward relevant solutions. For construction quality,the author lists the factors which affect construction quality,and describes the means of quality control,moreover,the accidents during construction are analyzed and correspondent solutions are put forward. For project cost control,the author illustrate how to balance construction cost,quality and term,in addition,the defects of project cost management are analyzed,and corresponding solutions are constitutedChina is in the process of the transition from planned economy to market economics,system reformation and operation adjustment become important jobs for construction enterprises. In the opinion of this article,when we study project management,we should not only focus on pace,quality and cost management,but also concern about the optimizing of essential production factors. Thus,this article describes the optimizing of essential production factors and relevant dynamicmanagement as well.In allusion to existing problems in construction project management,The author brings forward some reformative advice,which are instructive to architectural business and construction enterprises.
