The Research Of Establishment And Development Of Shanghai Offshore Financial Market

The origin and growth of offshore financial market (OF) have been accelerating the prosperous of world economy. At the beginning of 1980's, offshore financial markets have sprung up in every corner of the globe, especially in Asia. Situated at the center of East-Asia, it is extremely urgent for China to establish OF and thus promote the financial internationalization. Having more advantages, Shanghai is the best choice. We can believe that the shape taking of Shanghai offshore financial market would promote the Chinese economy and the construction of Shanghai international financial center greatly.The dissertation is divided into four chapters. Chapter 1 gives a brief introduction of OF, including the meaning, characteristics and its extension. Chapter 2 discusses the necessity of the establishment and development of Shanghai offshore financial market and focuses on its influence to Chinese economy and the construction of Shanghai international finical center. Chapter 3 discusses the accessible analysis of the establishment of Shanghai offshore financial market, including three sections. Section 1 analyses the condition of the establishment of OF in Shanghai. Section 2 and section 3 analyze the factors in forming OF and set up an index system, which includes 16 factors. With the help of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy Evaluation, comparative research upon OF's forming factors of Singapore (from sixties to seventies) and Shanghai (today) is carried out. The comparative research upon OF's forming factors of Shanghai (today) and Shenzhen is also carried out. The similar result confirms that establishment of Shanghai is feasible and Shanghai is the best choice. The strengths and weaknesses of Shanghai are also discussed in the chapter. Chapter 4 discusses the tactics and operation assumption of establishment and development of Shanghai offshore financial market. Then the relational policy suggestion is advanced.
