Internationalization is the trend of the bank development and the inexorable destination if Chinese banks want to take part in the international competition in the near future. Under the current circumstance, state-owned commercial banks are confronted with challenges of economic globalization and financial integration. In order to triumph over the competition coming from the foreign banks after we joined WTO, state-owned commercial bank must accomplish the tasks of bank reforms and internationalization at the same time. However, some scholars consider it inappropriate that the state-owned commercial bank pursue the internationalization when financial reform especially bank's property right reform isn't accomplished, interest rate doesn't fulfill the marketability, as well as the law and regulations of bank supervision need improve day by day. On the basis of the practice in China and the theory of bank internationalization, this article analyses internal and external motive forces, status quo and existing problems of state-owned commercial banks' internationalization; and which as a theoretical basis, the author further analyses the relations among internationalization, state-owned commercial banks' property right reform, marketability of interest rate and financial supervision. The author thinks that internationalization of state-owned commercial banks must be carried out with the other financial reforms at the same time, otherwise we will lose the favorable opportunities. Moreover, the present paper also makes many reasonable advices for the internationalization of state-owned commercial banks.
