The Local Currency Changes And Financial Transition In The Period Of The Republic Of China In JiangXi: 1912-1937

Local currency in Jiangxi province has gone through an emergence and disorder to unification way, form the late Qing dynasty to the eve of the anti-Japanese war. This dissertation has researched the issuing, circulating and exchanging of the local currency in Jiangxi province during the Republic of China period, analyzed the characteristics and social bases of Jiangxi local currency at that time, and understood the changes of the local currency and the transition of finance in Jiangxi province in modern times. This article holds that, to the year 1937, Jiangxi local currency has almost finished the transition to nationalization, the modern currency has replaced the traditional currency and has dominated the monetary market. The emergence of the local currency is not only related to the cleft and separatist regime of politic economy, the poverty of local economy,but also to the demands of civilian economy. Meanwhilejiangxi finance system also realized the modern transition step by step. Its main presentation is the decline of the old-style Chinese private bank and the appearance of modern bank.
