In the Civil Law, the personal right, which is different from the property right, takes the protection of the personality dignity and the personality independence for its basic purpose. How to strengthen the protection of the personal right is the main task of the modern law .We are moving towards an epoch whose main melody is to respect and protect the human right .The right of privacy embodies the dignity and the value of human being. However, people are not enough for the knowledge of the privacy and the right of privacy. The right of privacy is short of the effective protection because the Civil Law takes an indirect way to protect it but not regard it as an independent personal right. With the rapid progress of the science and technology, the protection of the right of privacy is faced with an unprecedented challenge.The thesis divides into 7 parts: In part 1, it gives a general description of the privacy and the right of privacy, it shows that the right of privacy is an independent personal right; In part 2, it expounds the main body of the right of privacy, the natural body is the main bod) of the right, the dead and the legal person do not have the right of privacy; In part 3, it explains the contents of the right of privacy, they are the positive function and the passive function, the chief function is the positive function; In part 4. it tells the right of privacy from the personality dignity ,the right of reputation ,the right of portrait and the right of name and further proves the independence of the right of privacy; In part 5, it interprets the relationship between the right of privacy and the right to know and gives the solutions to the conflict of them ; In part 6, it gives its opinions on the undertaking of the legal liabilities for tort; In part 7, it gives the rational thoughts about the current legislation and some suggestions on how to perfect the legal protection of the right of privacy.
