Claim is a difficult and complicated work in the management of works due to the fact that both the Client and the Contractor's benefits will be involved in the claims and their high attentions are drawn thereby. This essay studied the claims in the construction of Xiaolangdi international project and the resolution methods therefore by referring to the FIDIC clauses that are being broadly used in the international projects.In the introduction of the essay, the definition of project claim and the basic process of the claims are discussed in general, and a brief classification is made to the claims in the Xiaolangdi project according to the causes of the claims raised by the Contractor and the content of the claims, i.e. claims due to the unforeseeable and adverse obstructions and conditions from outside; claims due to the subsequent legislation; claims arising from the change of the contract; claims caused by the labor cost adjustment; claims arising from the acceleration; and claims from the "Client's condition" and claims due to the contract itself.Analysis of the above claims are made in the following Chapters 2 3, 4, 5 and 6, the contract clauses that support the claims are discussed, and the cause and nature of the claim is analyzed, and the resolution and treatment of the above mentioned claims are addressed by referring to the physical examples in the project.To resolve the claims successfully, some associated methods, e.g. to improve the construction records, to set up dispute review board, to employ international consulting experts, adopt advanced management software and insure for the project etc., that adopted in the Xiaolangdi project are addressed in Chapter 7 of the essay.The conclusion drawn at the end of the essay is it is physically applicable, and other international projects can draw a lesson therefrom.
