Research On Technological Innovation In Industrial Clusters

Technological innovation is the core factor of economic growth and the source of human wealth. With the economic globalization along with the new technological revolution wave tide, great changes have taken place in the business environment and technological innovation has become the direct source of an enterprise's competitive abilities. As the importance of technological innovation increases, it's becoming very important as to perform technological innovation activities effectively. There are various factors that influence technological innovation, among which organization accounts a lot. As an effective innovation organizational form, what influence does industrial cluster bring to technological innovation, what kind of mechanism to guarantee its innovation advantage, what problems exist in the industrial clusters of China, and what measures should be taken to make them function well? All these will be answered in this thesis.This thesis is divided into five parts:The first part introduces basic theories of innovation and industrial clusters, including definition, characters and classification. It is pointed out that the changes in innovation environment and characters of technological innovation process itself require the activities of technological innovation be taken through cooperation. Industrial cluster is an effective organization form to perform technological innovation. This part aims to lay the foundation for the later chapters.The second part elaborates on industrial clusters' innovation advantages. Firstly, industrial clusters promote individual enterprise's technological innovation. Secondly, as an organic economic system, industrial clusters promote integration of innovation. The third part analyzes the necessity of cluster governance. Spacial agglomeration doesn't necessarily bring synergy effect of innovation. The innovation advantages that cluster display come from the positive interactions among cluster members. Relationship is the basis of governance. Enterprise, university or research institute, government or public departments, agencies and finance organizations play their role respectively in the cluster innovation activities. To make sure that clusters function wellin promoting innovation, effective mechanisms of cluster governance should be established. It can be done from two levels: macro-mechanisms include trust, reputation, united publish and macro-culture; micro-mechanisms include mutual learning, decision coordination, motivation and restraint, interest distribution etc.The fourth part describes the realization of technological innovation in industrial clusters. It especially expounds cooperative innovation in industrial clusters.The fifth part analyzes problems existing in industrial clusters of China. It is pointed out that the absence of advanced specialized cooperation between enterprises, the absence of cooperation among industry, university and institute, and the weak functions of social service system, have been hindering clusters' function of promoting technological innovation. And after the analysis, suggestions are given accordingly.
