On "the Chinese Characteristics" Of Modern Stock System In China

Stock system,which originated in carrying trade in the 15 - 16 century and was spreaded all over the world with the expanding of western colonialism , is a relatively advanced form of economic organization. In China , stock system ,which began with the stock company started by foreign merchants , appeared in the 19th century . The stock companies run by foreign merchants which had developed in China for decades of years had great effects on the formation of Chinese stock system .China is a special nation in the world . Not only does she have the proud civilization that has been lasting for thousands of years but also she has the feudal tradition which has deeply rooted for thousands of years ,which makes it by no means easy for any foreign civilization to assimilate the nation or affect her greatly . As a result ,foreign civilization is always melted by this profound civilization or reshaped by it before accepted .The above phenomenon mentioned also makes the stock economy in China full of typical Chinese characteristic in terms of its formation ,internal operation and development .Stock conomy in each country has its own characteristic ,so does it in China . In this paper that is divided into four parts , the characteristic of Chinese stock system will be discussed respectively in terms of is formation , internal operation and development.As for its formation , the characteristic of Chinese stock system lies in that stock companies run by Chinese merchants came into being slowly after the ones run by foreign merchants had existed for decades of years .Moreover ,it appeared in a form that was highly different from modern stock system and didn't accord with the regulations .This distorted form is the so -called "operated by merchants and supervised by government officals".In addition ,its ormation obviously possessed the characteristic of stage and difference between china and foreign countries .With regards to the interal operation , the stock companies in China were firmly controlled by the Chinese traditional ideas .Stock system which should have born with the features of modern enterprise was full of the features of old ones in China , such as patentwith the characteristic of monopoly , dividend with the characteristic of feneration ,the form of"operated by merchants and supervised by government officials"with the characteristic of state-owned ,the rule of repaying country compulsorily and so on , which fully demonstrated the power of tradition . When it comes to the development , Chinese stock system had been suffering the squeezing from both imperialistic power and internal government , with the exception of the stock companies run by bureaucrats which only suffered the squeezing from imperialistic power . However ,the stock economy in other semi-feudal and semi-colonial countries was well protected and promoted while it was firmly constrained in China . It is a sadness and humiliation for a nation that used to be charming ,admired and powerful not to forcefully resist the foreign economic invasion together with its people but to seek the vanity and interest of a certain group despite the interest of the nation . Although everything has changed , endless reflections are left to us over the modern stock economy with Chinese characteristic which has developed for more than a hundred years in China . What is more worth thinking and researching in current China is the restoration of stock economy that has been interrupted for decades of years .
