A Study On The EPCIMS-based Project Risk Management

In recent years, along with the economy globalization and the emerging political, economic, social and technological developments, the construction industry has encountered increasing competitive pressure. Due to the long construction period, numerous involved parties, complicated techniques and geographical disperse, construction projects are generally faced with the problems of too many risk factors and inefficient management, which not only affect the quality, schedule and cost of construction projects, but also decrease the projects' benefit.Based on the problems forenamed, lots of domestic and international references, combining modern management methods, such as Integrated Management, Third Party Logistics, Virtual Organization, etc., with Information and Communication Technology (ICT), this thesis proposes an EPCIMS (Engineering Projects Contemporary Integrated Management Systems)-based Project Risk Management. Risk managers and analyzers in virtual organization integrate the information of engineering construction projects in the phases (decision-making, design, invite public bidding, building, checking, evaluating and maintenance), and through share-database actualize a series of risk management process such as risk plan, risk recognize, risk analysis, risk disposal and risk surveillance and so on. By passing and commuting network information, the risk in virtual organization can be controlled in good time, and we can realize dynamic risk management in construction projects, thereby, the objects of decreasing allied risk, guarantee time limit for a project, quality and cost and increasing construction efficiency. Firstly, the thesis introduces EPCIMS, Risk and Risk Management. Then it analyzes risk management mentality based on EPCIMS, and expounds the risk management organization and its culture. The theory of the whole process dynamic risk management based on EPCIMS is presented. At last, this thesis provides the research about the implementation of Risk management for S university schoolhouse project.
