Mao Zedong's thought not only belongs to China, but also to the world. The study on Mao Zedong's thought has been a worldwide topic. Stuart R.Schram, one of the most authoritative scholars in America in this field, who is famous for his distinctive researching methods and extensive eyesight. So many scholars at home and abroad pay their more attention to research on his distinctive methods and eyesight. Some international scholars' studies only based on introducing and discussing Schram's methods, As far as Chinese scholars are concerned, some of them have researched on Schram's methods, but they are at beginning. Because of Schram's distinctive methods, this paper attempts to make a special, systematic and deep analysis on Schram's distinctive methods in the hope of offering enlightenments for Chinese scholars in this field.The paper falls a natural routine of " methods - contents - viewpoints -double-sided influences-reasons" ,and divided into six parts.The first part makes a brief introduction of Schram's biography, researching achievements and his influences in the world. This is based on adequately selecting his individual information.The second part refines and summarizes a series of Schram's distinctive methods on studying Mao Zedong thought: "the multi-elements synthesized researching method" , "the horizon and vertical intertwining method" , "the method of dividing Marxism and Leninism" , "the method of compartmentalizing the historical period" and "the method of researching on background" .The third part analyses Schram how to apply his methods basing on his viewpoints about Mao Zedong thought, and reveals Schram's researching methods from the relationship of methods and viewpoints.The fourth part attempts to summarize the characteristics of Schram's methods. So this part obviously reflects Schram's researching characteristics and his style.The fifth part analyses Schram's distinctive methods from two aspects. The first aspect is to analyse the double-sided influences of his methods, the second is to probeinto following reasons that result in the disadvantage of methods, including academic difference, hierarchic difference, social and historical difference, and so on.The sixth part by reflecting Schram's methods and viewpoints summarizes four enlightenments for the Chinese scholars who study Mao Zedong thought.
