The Theory Of Regional Economic Integration And Its Enlightenment For China

Regional economic integration is definitely one of the most important issues in world economy. Mastering the inherent mechanism of regional economic integration's development and operation will be greatly significant for the policy-makers. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the reasons of regional economic integration's originating and its effects on the partner countries, find out why the South-South regional economic integration usually failed and put up with some strategic suggestions for China.This thesis includes four chapters. Chapter One summarizes the traditional and modern theories on regional economic integration. Chapter Two draws on the conclusion that the South-South regional economic integration seems unsuccessful after evaluating the performance of the North-North, South-South and South-North regional economic integrations separately. Chapter Three analyzes the problems of the South-South regional economic integration on the basis of the regional economic integration theories and the new trade theory model. Chapter Four illuminates the status of China's involvement in the process of regional economic integration and put forward the strategic choices for China.
