This dissertation studies and reviews the evolution of RMB exchange rate and its regime from China's reform and openness. It not only acknowledges the rationalities of RMB exchange rate in special time span but also bravely faces its deficiencies and shortcomings exposing in further development. Moreover, It proposes several advices about reforming and perfecting the present exchange rate regime-managed floating exchange rate.The retrospection of the evolution of the RMB exchange rate, We can observe sharply a clue that RMB exchange rate has evolved from highly concentrated planed-regulation to the decision based on market supply and demand and from highly fixed exchange rate regime to managed floating exchange rate regime. It fully embodies the orientated-policy of china administration: Stage and graduaHness.Therefore, the dissertation is composed of three chapters in terms of time and logic sequence. The first chapter meticulously describes the evolution of RMB exchange rate, especially several far-reaching reforms in it; The second chapter summarizes and evaluates the RMB exchange rate, especially analyzing the deficiencies of managed floating exchange rate regime at present which leads into many negative effects; The third chapter aiming at the above problems gives several advices.In general, there is no such exchange rate regime that can match all the countries because of the differences of each country in economical and financial conditions; As for some country, appropriate exchange rate regime can take place some changes through a period of time. A country that will adopt what kind of exchange rate regime chiefly depends on the level of its economical development.
