| The Chinese national spirit, with patriotism as the core ,is our precious spiritual treasure.lt grows in the national culture-creating activities in 5000 years, and becomes a strong mental power .It has been accepted by every national member, and it has become the ties for the unity and solidarity of the Chinese people. It inspires and guides us to make continuous progress, and it supports the Chinese nation to forge ahead and develop. In the present world, globalization threatens the security of the national culture of the developing countries; economic reform brings increase of wealth, but it doesn't bring the improvement of spirit and ethics; science and technology develop fast. All kinds of ideas and cultures interact mutually, and national spirit becomes an important part for the competition of overall national strength. Confronted with the challenges, we must take carrying on and cultivating national spirit as important task for cultural construction, so as to keep national spirit with the times to improve people's quality, to enhance the cohesion, fighting capacity and international competition of the Chinese people, to advance socialist modernization and to create a new situation in building socialism with Chinese characteristics. To spread and cultivate national spirit on the base of advanced cultural construction, of combining with excellent tradition and spirit of the times, and of incorporating into our national education and the entire process of spiritual civilization, put forward by the 16th national congress of the CPC, accords with the law on spiritual civilization, and it is a possible and practical way.
