The Research On Nigeria Constitutional Development

The research of the African law has never got enough attention and concern at home, research to the development problem of African constitutional government is less. As a part of the third world,the constitutionalism systems of countries in Black Africa udergo a developing course of half century. Most countries have swiftly established one suit of western style constitutionalism system by means of mending the constitution, or democrat election of president and legislative assembly and so on. This paper mainly studies Nigerian constitutionalism. Nigeria is a modern civilization country with a long history in Africa, it is the most populous, richest country of Black Africa. Its course of more than 80 years of constitutional government' experience, has been already ripe gradually. The experience of Nigeria constitutional development was on behalf of Black Africa country' growth course that constitutional governments develop, we think we should carry on an investigation of the development of Nigerian constitutionalism, and the study of Nigeria constitutional government will help us heavily to further investigate legal system in African countries.This text has carried on detailed investigation to the course of development of Nigerian constitutional government, then basing on new constitution we introduce current Nigerian system of constitutional government 1999; next we introduce two constitutional government models of Great Britain and America which have deep influence to the development of constitutional government of Nigeria, and analyze why system of Nigeria constitutional government adopts America model; at last, we have introduced the characteristic of development of Nigerian constitutional government at first, the democratization tide and their growing process of constitutional construction and democratization of the black African countries since 1990s; Then judge the construction and democratization of constitutional government in black African countries. The writing of this text will help people to rise up to understand the state of development of Nigerian constitutional government; And process of constitution construction and democratization in black African countries, to strengthen the study of African law in the future. With the domestic scholar's increase to pay close attention to the thing that African politics, economy, culture, we believe to welcome a new era in African law research.
