This report focuses on the analysis of the reasons for the success and failure of Jin Businessmen based on enterprise life cycle theory. Additionally we make a further analysis by comparing Jin Businessmen with Hui Businessmen and Ningbo Businessmen Group which flows to a final conclusion on the real reasons externally and internally. This report is one part of the subject directed by Professor Lang developed by EMBA program in Tsinghua University.Under the pressure of poor natural condition, Jin Businessmen took the chance of favorable policy and made a successful start. The success of Jin Businessmen owed mostly on their aggressiveness and professionalism. They did business based on a philosophy of business-rooted and justice-first. The manager-responsible and share-for-compensation system which created by Jin Businessmen were very advanced managerial measures at that time. Compared with Jin Businessmen, Hui Businessmen showed a personality of rashness and lack of professionalism which were, on the contrary, the advantage of the former. Accordingly it was the ever lasting aggressiveness and the business-rooted professionalism that generated the successful Jin Businessmen.Apart from the unfavorable external conditions, their failure was mostly due to the internal disadvantage. They grew up in an isolated environment and an agriculture-economic-dominated period and persisted in a soil-rooted traditional point of view. By comparison Zhe Businessmen showed an open overview and could be able to escape the strain of blood and location. They paid much attention on investment which was the very disadvantage of Jin Businessmen. So it was the isolated living environment and a nature of feudal farmer that led to Jin Businessmen's descent with the death of feudal society.
